Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) plays a crucial role in shaping students’ character, spirituality, and moral intelligence. However, learning practices in schools are still dominated by lecture-based and rote memorization methods, which are less effective in fostering critical thinking skills that are highly needed in the 21st century. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the collaborative learning model in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills in PAI subjects. The research method employed is a library research approach by reviewing various relevant sources, including books, scholarly journals. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques to identify patterns, themes, and interconnections among concepts. The findings indicate that the collaborative learning model not only encourages students to be more active, reflective, and participative but also improves their abilities in analysis, evaluation, and decision-making in alignment with Islamic values. Moreover, collaborative learning serves as a medium for internalizing values of tolerance, cooperation, and religious moderation. Thus, it can be concluded that the collaborative model in PAI is effective in integrating critical thinking skills while simultaneously strengthening Islamic character education.
