PAI MODERN: STRATEGI PEMBELAJARAN BERBASIS PEMAHAMAN DAN IMPLEMENTASI NYATA

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) plays a crucial role in shaping the character and religious behavior of students. However, conventional PAI learning that emphasizes memorization is often less effective in fostering deep understanding and students’ ability to implement religious values in daily life. This study aims to examine modern PAI learning strategies based on understanding and practical implementation, as well as to assess their effectiveness in enhancing students’ conceptual comprehension and the practice of religious values. The method employed is a library research approach with qualitative descriptive analysis. Data were collected from various literature sources, including books, academic journals, articles, and research reports relevant to Islamic education, learning strategies, and innovative teaching methods. The information from these sources was systematically analyzed, compared with theoretical frameworks and previous research findings, and synthesized to formulate effective modern PAI learning strategies. The results indicate that learning strategies based on understanding and practical implementation significantly improve students’ conceptual comprehension while promoting the internalization of religious values in daily behavior. Students not only gain a deep understanding of Islamic teachings but also apply them in concrete actions, such as discipline, honesty, social care, and helping others. These findings demonstrate that the integration of constructivist approaches, contextual learning, and interactive media produces a synergistic effect between understanding and practical application. In conclusion, modern PAI strategies based on understanding and practical implementation are more effective than conventional methods, as they cultivate students who not only comprehend religious teachings but are also able to consistently practice them. The study recommends developing innovative PAI learning models in schools, utilizing digital media, and strengthening contextual activities and reflective projects to reinforce the internalization of religious values, while encouraging further research using field observations to verify changes in students’ behavior quantitatively.
