Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning based on e-learning at the secondary education level, as well as to identify the opportunities and challenges encountered during its implementation. The method used is library research, by reviewing various sources such as Islamic education books, scientific journals, articles, and relevant curriculum documents. The findings reveal that e-learning offers significant opportunities to improve learning time flexibility, access to digital learning resources, and to strengthen students' technological literacy. However, the main challenges faced include limited internet access, insufficient digital competence among teachers, and low student motivation in the context of online learning. Therefore, continuous training for teachers, adequate infrastructure provision, and the development of interactive and contextual PAI learning models are needed to optimize e-learning-based instruction. Thus, e-learning in PAI is not merely a matter of technology, but also about how Islamic values can be effectively transmitted and touch the heart within digital spaces. Innovation must go hand in hand with the strengthening of character, spirituality, and exemplary role models, so that PAI remains a foundational pillar in shaping a generation of Muslims who are faithful, knowledgeable, and noble in character in the modern era.
