INTEGRASI NILAI-NILAI AL-QUR’AN DALAM PENGUATAN PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER DI SEKOLAH DASAR
Abstract
This study aims to explore the process of integrating Qur'anic values into character education reinforcement in elementary schools, as well as its impact on shaping students' attitudes and behaviors. The background of this research lies in the crucial role of religious education—particularly the values of the Qur'an—in shaping the character of the younger generation amidst increasingly complex moral and social challenges. The method employed is library research, analyzing various sources such as Islamic education books, scholarly journals, articles, and relevant curriculum documents. The researcher identifies core Qur'anic values such as honesty, responsibility, tolerance, hard work, and compassion, and connects them to the application of character education in the elementary school context. The findings reveal that the integration of Qur'anic values into character education in elementary schools is a strategic and fundamental step in forming a generation that is not only intellectually capable but also morally and spiritually grounded. Values such as honesty (ṣidq), responsibility (mas’ūliyyah), compassion (raḥmah), mutual help (ta’āwun), and discipline (intiẓām) are proven to be highly relevant to the character development needs of elementary-aged children. These values can be taught not only through direct instruction but also internalized through habitual practice, teacher role modeling, and school activities grounded in Islamic teachings. The integration process becomes more effective when implemented comprehensively and consistently across all school activities, including intracurricular, cocurricular, and extracurricular programs. The success of this integration is also significantly influenced by the role of teachers as role models, a conducive school culture, and synergy between schools and parents in nurturing students’ character. Furthermore, the use of contextual teaching methods and engaging media strengthens students’ understanding and acceptance of these values. Thus, Qur'an-based character education not only fosters good behavior in the short term but also builds a strong foundation of values for the children’s future. To achieve optimal results, this integration must be systematically designed, well-planned, and continuously reinforced through evaluation and sustainable program development.
