Abstract

Language development in early childhood is a change in the sound symbol system which influences the abilities of early childhood. This research aims to find out the role of parental communication in improving children's language development. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews and document study. The results of the research show that: (1) parent- child communication occurs when parents help children do assignments or encourage their children to study, accompany children to play and spend time with children, and parents tell stories to children just before the child sleeps or ask about his activities. ; (2) factors that influence parent-child communication include: the time provided by parents to accompany their children to play, the child's play environment, and the child's psychological condition.
