Abstract

This study aims to establish and analyze the effectiveness of the storytelling method through media in developing early childhood language at Kober Sabila 2, TBU District, Pengajaran Village, Bandar Lampung, during the 2023/2024 academic year. The background indicates that despite the recognized importance of storytelling, media implementation in the process has not been optimal, leading to a lack of varied and engaging language stimulation. This research employed a qualitative approach with a classroom action research (CAR) design, conducted in two cycles. The subjects were 3-4 year old children at Kober Sabila 2 and their educators. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively qualitatively to identify patterns, changes, and impacts. The findings reveal that establishing the storytelling method through media, such as hand puppets, flannel boards, and interactive picture books, significantly increased children's interest and active participation in language activities. Notable improvements were observed in children's vocabulary, comprehension of instructions, and verbal expression. Media proved capable of visualizing stories, making them more concrete and comprehensible, and encouraging children to interact and ask questions. This study concludes that the storytelling method through media is effective for early childhood language development at Kober Sabila 2. Recommendations include continuous training for educators in media innovation and diversification of media types.
