Abstract

Islamic boarding schools have increasingly expanded their roles beyond religious education to become centers of community empowerment and rural development. This study examines the collaborative innovation model developed by Pondok Pesantren Darussalam Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI), South Sumatra, in strengthening village economy, education, and environmental sustainability. A qualitative case study approach was employed through observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis involving pesantren leaders, teachers, students, community members, village officials, and other stakeholders. Data were analyzed using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that collaborative innovation is implemented through multi-stakeholder partnerships involving pesantren, local communities, government institutions, alumni networks, and social organizations. In the economic sector, collaboration has enhanced community empowerment through productive enterprises and local economic initiatives. In education, the pesantren has strengthened human resource development through formal, non-formal, and community-based learning programs. In the environmental sector, collaborative activities have promoted ecological awareness and sustainable resource management practices. The integration of these three dimensions has contributed to building a sustainable village development model based on Islamic values, social participation, and collective responsibility. The study concludes that collaborative innovation enables pesantren to function as a strategic agent of social transformation and sustainable rural development.
