This study aims to determine the relationship between reading comprehension skills and the ability to solve mathematical word problems among fourth-semester students in the Islamic Elementary School Teacher Education (PGMI) study program. The study employs a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The subjects consist of 25 fourth-semester students from the PGMI study program. Data were collected using a reading comprehension test (variable X) and a test on the ability to solve mathematical word problems (variable Y). The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Pearson correlation test to assess the direction, strength, and significance of the relationship between the two variables. Descriptive analysis results indicate a mean score of 73.60 for reading comprehension skills, while the mean score for the ability to solve mathematical word problems is 82.80. The Pearson correlation test yielded a correlation coefficient of 0.829, with a significance level of p < 0.001. Furthermore, the significance test resulted in a t-calculated value of 7.10, which exceeds the t-table value of 2.069 (at a 5% significance level with 23 degrees of freedom). These findings demonstrate a strong, statistically significant positive relationship between reading comprehension skills and the ability to solve mathematical word problems among the fourth-semester PGMI students studied. Consequently, higher scores in reading comprehension among these students are associated with a tendency toward higher scores in their ability to solve mathematical word problems.
