Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of the principal's role in improving teacher performance at Islamic Junior High School Islami Regency. The design in this research is field research. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation and documentation. The results showed that the role of the Principal of Islamic Junior High School Islamiyah in carrying out his duties with full responsibility, with the aim of improving teacher performance, by taking a normative approach or providing teacher motivation to always work according to the expertise, field of study being taught. , the procedure that must be carried out by school principals in improving teacher performance is to carry out supervision with an approach of deliberation, communication, planning, coordination and evaluation, with this application all will eventually be realized. Based on the results of the study, it can be illustrated that to support all principals' programs in improving performance, external and internal factors, facilities and infrastructure, methods and programs. The principal should consult with his subordinates once a month to conduct an evaluation. To overcome the inhibiting factors in the implementation of education, especially the success of school principals in improving teacher performance, it is hoped that the unity and togetherness of the goals of all school components, both principals, teachers, students, parents and the surrounding community, are expected to jointly carry out the vision and mission of MTs Islamiyah.
