Abstract

The development of the competence of Islamic religious education teachers is a basic need for institutions. Teachers have a variety of names in the perspective of Islamic traditions that have added to Islamic values and teacher performance. Among the names in Islamic religious education are ustadz, mu'allim, murabbiy, mursyid, mudarris and muaddib. Each name has a classification of values and functions that have an impact on the quality of pai teacher competencies. Competence for teachers requires the ability to manage institutions and sub-systems in the institution. Management is a tool to develop an alignment of the concepts of competence, values and teacher appearance. Teachers are part of an institutional system that requires management that manages five teacher competencies. The five competencies are personality, professional, pedagogic, social and leadership. These competencies must be the strength of the weaknesses of teacher competency development and those competencies become opportunities rather than teacher obstacles in facing external challenges.
