Abstract

This study aims to explore how the leadership management of the head of the madrasah influences teacher performance at MTs N 1 Wakatobi Sulawesi Tenggara. The main focus of this research is on the leadership strategies implemented by the madrasah principal in managing, guiding, and motivating teachers to improve the quality of the teaching and learning process. As a leader in an educational institution, the madrasah principal plays a strategic role in creating a conducive work environment, providing clear direction, and developing teachers’ potential continuously. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and administrative staff. The findings revealed that the principal of MTs N 1 Wakatobi Sulawesi Tenggara oapplies participative and transformational leadership styles, in which teachers are actively involved in decision-making, encouraged to innovate, and supported to foster collaboration. Supervision and performance evaluations are conducted systematically through academic supervision and regular coaching. Supporting factors for the success of this leadership management include effective communication, discipline, and adequate educational facilities. However, challenges remain, such as limited supporting infrastructure and the need to enhance the professionalism of some teachers through continuous training. Therefore, it can be concluded that effective leadership management of the madrasah principal significantly contributes to improving teacher performance, which ultimately has a positive impact on the overall quality of education at the institution.
