Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (IRE) plays a strategic role in fostering social harmony within multicultural societies characterized by religious, cultural, and ethnic diversity. The rise of intolerance and social conflict highlights the need to strengthen inclusive values within IRE learning processes. This study aims to analyze the contribution of Islamic Religious Education in building social harmony in a multicultural era, identify key values that support tolerance, and examine their implementation in educational practices. This research employs a qualitative approach with a library research design, utilizing data from scholarly journals, books, and relevant documents published within the last five years, analyzed through content analysis techniques. The findings reveal that core Islamic values such as tolerance (tasamuh), justice (adl), balance (tawazun), and brotherhood (ukhuwah) significantly contribute to social harmony, supported by dialogic, contextual, and experiential learning approaches, as well as the role of teachers and inclusive school culture. In conclusion, Islamic Religious Education serves as a strategic instrument in shaping social character and promoting a harmonious, tolerant, and civilized society amid diversity.
