Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in improving the Quranic reading skills of students at SDIT Buah Hati Cilacap. The background of this research stems from the importance of Quranic reading skills from an early age as a foundation for Islamic character development and as a spiritual foundation for students in their daily lives. However, the reality on the ground shows that there is still variation in Quranic reading abilities among students, both in terms of pronunciation, tajwid, and fluency. This requires strategies, methods, and the active role of PAI teachers in guiding, motivating, and creating a conducive learning environment to optimally achieve Quranic learning objectives. The research methodology used was qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Data were obtained through observation techniques, in-depth interviews with PAI teachers, and documentation related to Quranic reading learning activities at SDIT Buah Hati Cilacap. The collected data were then analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. This research emphasizes the authenticity of field findings and the researcher's interpretation of ongoing learning practices. The results are expected to provide a concrete picture of the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in the context of Quranic recitation learning in integrated Islamic elementary schools. The results indicate that Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers play a strategic role in improving students' Quranic recitation skills through three main aspects: educator, motivator, and mentor. As educators, Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers play a key role in developing Quranic learning plans using a variety of methods, such as talaqqi, tikrar, and the Iqra' method. As motivators, Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers foster enthusiasm for Quranic learning by providing rewards, leading by example, and creating a pleasant learning environment. As mentors, Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers intensively assist students, especially those experiencing difficulties with pronunciation and tajwid. With this optimal role, students' Quranic recitation skills have significantly improved, both in terms of accuracy and fluency, thus supporting the overall goals of Islamic education at SDIT Buah Hati Cilacap.
