KONSEP ETIKA DALAM PEMIKIRAN IBNU SINA DAN RELEVANSINYA BAGI PENDIDIKAN ISLAM
Keywords:
Ethics, Ibn Sina, Islamic EducationAbstract
This study aims to examine in depth the concept of ethics in the thought of Ibn Sina and to explore its relevance to Islamic education, particularly in strengthening character education. The research uses a qualitative approach with a library research method, analyzing both classical and contemporary literature related to Ibn Sina’s ethical philosophy and Islamic educational principles. The findings reveal that ethics, according to Ibn Sina, is rooted in the balance between the faculties of desire (shahwah), anger (ghadhab), and reason (‘aql), with reason as the central controlling force aimed at achieving al-sa‘ādah (true happiness). His ethical structure is built upon four cardinal virtues: hikmah (wisdom), iffah (temperance), syaja’ah (courage), and ‘adl (justice), which are essential for the development of a complete human personality. In the context of Islamic education, Ibn Sina’s ethical framework is relevant for curriculum design, habit-based learning strategies, teacher development, and the creation of a morally driven educational environment. His thought highlights the importance of educators as moral exemplars and the need to integrate intellectual and spiritual dimensions within the learning process. Thus, Ibn Sina’s ethical philosophy offers both a conceptual and practical foundation for nurturing individuals who are intellectually competent and morally upright.
