Abstract

This study aims to examine the strengthening of Islamic Wasathiyah values through Islamic Religious Education at Private Islamic Religious Higher Education Institutions (PTKIS) in Lampung Province. The research employs a qualitative approach with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving lecturers and students directly engaged in the learning process. The findings indicate that Islamic Religious Education significantly enhances the understanding and internalization of Wasathiyah values, including moderation, tolerance, and balance within both academic and campus social life. Moreover, the implementation of these values fosters inclusive attitudes and heightened social awareness among students, contributing to a harmonious and productive campus environment. However, challenges persist, such as limited competent teaching resources, inadequate supporting facilities, and the need for more contextual and adaptive learning materials to contemporary social dynamics. The study recommends intensive faculty training, improved quality and relevance of learning materials, and the formulation of campus policies that actively support and integrate Wasathiyah values across all academic and student life aspects. Consequently, PTKIS in Lampung can optimize its role in shaping moderate, inclusive students capable of addressing various socio-religious challenges in the modern era.
