This research aims to examine the role of teachers in fostering children's independence through Cooking Class activities in early childhood education institutions. Independence is a crucial aspect of child development that can be nurtured through direct experience and contextual learning. The research employed a qualitative approach using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The subjects of this study were teachers and students involved in the Cooking Class activities. The results show that teachers play a significant role in developing children's independence through various strategies, such as assigning tasks according to the child’s ability, providing active guidance, and creating an engaging and challenging learning environment. Cooking Class activities have a positive impact on children’s development, including enhancing fine motor skills, self-confidence, responsibility, and problem-solving abilities. Additionally, these activities instill values of discipline, cooperation, and cleanliness. Teachers act as facilitators who offer opportunities for exploration and real-life experiences. Therefore, Cooking Class becomes an effective alternative learning strategy to shape children into independent, creative, and responsible individuals. Support from parents and educational institutions is essential to ensure the sustainability of such programs.
