Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the cooperative learning model Think Pair Share (TPS) in enhancing students’ participation and academic achievement in mathematics. The method used is a literature review by collecting and analyzing various previous research findings from scientific journals, academic articles, and relevant reference books. The TPS model is one of the cooperative learning approaches that emphasizes active student involvement through three stages: thinking individually (think), discussing with a partner (pair), and sharing the results of the discussion with a group or the whole class (share). The findings of the review show that the consistent implementation of TPS can improve student engagement in the learning process and positively impact students’ mathematics learning outcomes. This strategy encourages social interaction, strengthens conceptual understanding, and creates a more active and collaborative learning environment. Based on the literature review, the TPS model is recommended as an effective alternative instructional approach to improve the quality of mathematics education at various educational levels. Thus, TPS not only facilitates the mastery of mathematical material but also fosters students' social attitudes and critical thinking skills, which ultimately has a positive impact on the overall improvement of learning outcomes.
