Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) in Islamic education based on the metaverse, as well as explore the opportunities and challenges that arise in its implementation. In the context of Islamic education, integrated quality management plays an important role in improving the quality of education through comprehensive planning, management, and evaluation. Meanwhile, the metaverse, as a virtual space connected with virtual reality technology, offers significant potential in creating immersive and interactive learning experiences. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature review that involves books, scholarly articles, and sources related to TQM and metaverse technology. The findings indicate that the application of TQM in Islamic education based on the metaverse offers opportunities to enhance accessibility, flexibility, and active participation of learners in the learning process. The metaverse can support the application of TQM principles such as stakeholder involvement, continuous improvement, and focus on user satisfaction (students and educators). However, the main challenges faced include limited technological infrastructure, the readiness of human resources in management, and differences in perceptions regarding technology-based education. Therefore, to maximize the potential of TQM in Islamic education based on the metaverse, there needs to be an enhancement of technical capacity and policies that support digital transformation in the field of Islamic education.
