IMPLEMENTASI TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT (TQM) DALAM PENDIDIKAN ISLAM
Abstract
This research aims to analyze the implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) in Islamic educational institutions and identify supporting and inhibiting factors. The main focus of this research is how TQM principles are applied to improve the quality of education, the effectiveness of school/madrasah management, and stakeholder satisfaction, including teachers, students and parents. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method at several Islamic educational institutions that have implemented TQM. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using data reduction techniques, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The research results show that the application of TQM in Islamic education contributes significantly to improving the quality of education. TQM principles, such as focus on customers (stakeholders), continuous improvement, participative leadership, and data-based management, have been applied in various aspects, including curriculum, evaluation systems, and human resource development. Obstacles faced in implementing TQM include a lack of understanding by teaching staff regarding the TQM concept, limited funds, and resistance to change. However, support from school leaders, continuous training, and involvement of all parties in the quality improvement process are the main factors in the success of implementing TQM in Islamic educational institutions. Implementation of TQM in Islamic educational institutions has a positive impact on improving the quality of education. For the sustainability of this program, school management commitment, training for teaching staff, and full support from all education stakeholders are needed.
