Abstract

This research aims to investigate the effect of applying the Problem Based Learning method on student learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects at SMPN 2 KRUI. The results of data analysis and previous learning show that learning using the Problem Based Learning method succeeded in improving the learning outcomes of class VII students. Before implementing this method, student learning outcomes had not reached the minimum completeness standard (KKM), but after implementing the Problem Based Learning method, there was a significant increase in learning completeness in each learning cycle. This problem-based learning method is able to improve the quality of student learning outcomes in PAI subjects. This is reflected in the comparison of the average scores before and after applying the Problem Based Learning method. Previously, the average student score was 71.1 with the percentage of students achieving a score above 70 (KKM) of 63.63%. During cycle I, there was an increase in the average score to 76.32, with the percentage of students achieving a score above 70 increasing to 81.81%. In conclusion, the application of the Problem Based Learning learning method has proven its effectiveness in improving student learning outcomes in PAI subjects. This research provides strong evidence that this method is able to overcome the challenges of learning outcomes that previously did not meet minimum standards of completeness. Therefore, this learning method is recognized as a more effective alternative compared to the lecture method in improving learning outcomes
