Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the role of teachers in implementing the independent curriculum at SMPN 17 Mesuji. This research uses a qualitative approach. Meanwhile, the method used in this research is descriptive research method. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation techniques. This participatory observation technique was carried out to observe the geographical location in the form of the location plan and environmental conditions, vision, mission, strategy and motto of the school as well as the condition of human resources at SMPN 17 Mesuji. Interviews were conducted to find out the implementation stages of the independent curriculum. Based on the results of the description that has been described, the curriculum development management process cannot be separated from Team Work (cooperation) with the help of resources that support it. It is implemented with a certain strategy that is effective and efficient, and refers to the vision, mission and goals that have been determined previously. The parties who play a role in forming the curriculum are the government, schools, education bureaus, school committees. Meanwhile, problems in curriculum development management lie in the quality of the teachers themselves, school principals and school administrators, education supervisors (boards), and school committees. There are various kinds of problems, so the role of a leader in overcoming existing problems is to always evaluate the performance carried out by all existing officials to then make improvements and improvements.
