Abstract

During learning, educators tend to pay attention to the class as a whole, not individually or in groups, so that individual differences get less attention. Another symptom can be seen from educators in using learning strategies and methods that have not been maximized. Learning that does not pay attention to the individual differences of children is based on the wishes of the educator, it will be difficult to be able  to  lead  students  towards  the  achievement  of  learning  objectives.  Problems found in the classroom in the learning process include students who are slow to learn, low learning achievement, dependency, lack of response and less active.

On the basis of the problems above, the formulation of the problem that the authors propose in this study are: Why the implementation of active learning strategies has not been able to improve learning achievement in Didik Madrasah Aliyah Swasta Isti’dadul Mu’allimien students. The purpose of this study was to find out why the implementation of active learning strategies has not been able to improve student achievement at Didik Madrasah Aliyah Swasta Isti’dadul Mu’allimien.

This research was conducted at Didik Madrasah Aliyah Swasta Isti’dadul Mu’allimien. This research is a qualitative descriptive field research or evaluates how the implementation of active learning strategies in improving students' learning achievement. In this study, the data collection methods used were observation, interviews and documentation. The data obtained is then processed by the steps of data reduction, display, verification and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that student learning achievement has not increased in a better direction because of the following factors: (1) Teacher attention to inactive students is still lacking, (2) Teachers do not understand the true potential of students, often measure students' abilities. using standards that exceed reality, so that it seems that students must be able to, (3) Not optimally use media that supports learning activities, (4) Teachers still dominate teaching and learning activities, (5) The language used by teachers is less communicative,  (6)  Explanation  about  evaluation  guidelines,  especially  activities that must be carried out by students, are lacking.

Active learning strategies if implemented optimally and will get a good response

from  students.  This  is  indicated  by  the  increase  in  student  responses  in  each meeting. And the increasing number of students who get grades above the standard value that has been set at Didik Madrasah Aliyah Swasta Isti’dadul Mu’allimien, namely 65. Teachers must be more optimal and can optimize the learning time that has been allocated in the application of active learning strategies. And students must be more active, creative, and regular in learning so that they can produce better learning achievements.
