Abstract

School as an institution where education is provided is a system that has devices and elements that are interconnected with each other. Internally, the school has a principal, teachers, students, curriculum, facilities and infrastructure. Meanwhile, externally the school is connected with other agencies both vertically and horizontally which are both aimed at achieving educational goals. Schools are educational organizations that deal directly with interested parties (stakeholders) so that schools know more about the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats they face. Therefore, the existence of a leader in formulating policies and making decisions within the organization is very necessary to bring it to the goals that have been set.
Leadership in a general sense is a process when someone directs, guides, influences or controls the thoughts, feelings or behavior of other people. Leadership is a universal phenomenon. There are various definitions of leadership, including:
Churchill, said leadership is: the ability and skill to direct, is a factor (activity).
