Abstract
This study aims to examine the effectiveness of strengthening prayer motivation and students' character through a contextual learning approach in the subject of Islamic Religious Education at SMP Plus Darunna'im Sidomukti, East Lampung. This research is motivated by the importance of strengthening the understanding and practice of Islamic religious teachings, especially in the practice of prayer and character building, in students' daily lives. The research method used was classroom action research involving students of SMP Plus Darunna'im Sidomukti Lampung Timur class as research participants. This research consists of several cycles which include the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The contextual learning approach is applied in Islamic Religious Education subjects by emphasizing the relevance and application of Islamic religious teachings in students' lives. Research data were obtained through observation, interviews, and assessment of student participation and changes in their motivation and character during the research process. The collected data were analyzed qualitatively by considering the increase in prayer motivation and the development of students' character. It is hoped that the results of this study will provide a better understanding of the effectiveness of the contextual learning approach in strengthening prayer motivation and character building for students at SMP Plus Darunna'im Sidomukti, East Lampung. The findings of this study can contribute to educators and schools in developing appropriate learning strategies to improve students' religious understanding and prayer practices and strengthen their character in the context of Islamic religious education.
