Abstract

This study aims to find out why the implementation of an active learning process has not been able to improve student achievement. This research was conducted at MTs Daaruttauhid Titipasan Pesawaran. This research is a qualitative descriptive field research. The collection of data used is observation, interviews and documentation. The data obtained is then processed by means of data reduction, display, verification and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that student achievement has not increased in a better direction due to the following factors: (1) The teacher's attention to students who are not active is still lacking. (2) The teacher does not understand the true potential of students, (3) The lack of optimal use of media that supports learning activities, (4) The teacher still dominates teaching and learning activities, (4) The language used by the teacher is less communicative, (5) There is a lack of explanation about the evaluation guidelines, especially the activities that must be carried out by students. Active learning strategies if implemented optimally will get a good response from students. This is indicated by the increase in student responses in each meeting. Teachers must be maximized and be able to optimize the learning time that has been allocated in implementing active learning strategies. And students must be more active, creative, and organized in learning so that they can produce better learning achievements.
