Implementasi Kepala Sekolah Dalam Pengembangan Kompetensi Profesional Guru Untuk Meningkatkan Mutu Pendidikan di SMP N 1 Bandar Sribhawono Kabupaten Lampung Timur Tahun Akademik 2021/2022
Abstract
The development of teacher professional competence is important in improving the quality of education in schools. Principals have important roles and responsibilities in developing teacher professional competence. Steps that school principals can take include compiling a structured and sustainable professional development program, providing adequate support and facilities for teachers, and encouraging collaboration between teachers in schools. Research shows that developing teacher professional competence can improve teacher performance, student motivation, collaboration between teachers, quality of education, and teacher satisfaction. Therefore, the development of teacher professional competence needs to be a priority for school principals in improving the quality of education in schools.
This study aims to explore the implementation of school principals in developing teacher professional competence at SMP N 1 Bandar Sribhawono, East Lampung Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of the study show that school principals have an important role and responsibility in developing teacher professional competence through the preparation of a structured and sustainable professional development program, providing adequate support and facilities for teachers, and encouraging collaboration between teachers in schools. The implementation carried out by the principal has succeeded in improving teacher performance and the quality of education at SMP N 1 Bandar Sribhawono. Therefore, this study recommends that school principals continue to carry out efforts to develop teacher professional competence to improve the quality of education at SMP N 1 Bandar Sribhawono, East Lampung Regency.
