This study aims to analyze the implementation of School-Based Management (SBM) in improving the quality of education in schools. School-Based Management is a form of educational decentralization that provides schools with the authority to independently manage resources according to the needs and characteristics of the school. The implementation of School-Based Management is expected to improve the effectiveness of educational management, the quality of learning, community participation, and the quality of graduates. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation involving principals, teachers, educational staff, school committees, and other related parties as research subjects. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of School-Based Management was carried out through school program planning, human resource management, improvement of teacher competence, management of facilities and infrastructure, and community involvement in educational decision-making. In addition, the implementation of School-Based Management was also able to improve the quality of the learning process, school discipline, administrative effectiveness, as well as students’ academic and non-academic achievements. Supporting factors for the implementation of School-Based Management include effective principal leadership, cooperation among school members, community support, and the availability of adequate educational facilities. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors include limited budgets, low community participation, and a lack of understanding of the concept of School-Based Management. Therefore, the implementation of School-Based Management has an important role in improving the quality of education and creating school management that is effective, efficient, and oriented toward improving educational quality.
