Abstract

This study aims to analyze the moral development of students through religious activities in schools from the perspective of Islamic education. The phenomenon of moral degradation among students has become a serious concern in the field of education, especially amid globalization and rapid technological advancement. Schools as formal educational institutions are responsible not only for cognitive development but also for shaping students’ character and morality. Religious activities such as congregational prayers, Quran recitation, Islamic lectures, and commemoration of Islamic holidays are among the strategies used to instill moral values in students’ daily lives. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study design to gain an in-depth understanding of the implementation of moral development through religious activities in schools. The findings reveal that religious activities conducted regularly and systematically have a positive impact on students’ moral development. These activities not only enhance spiritual awareness but also foster discipline, responsibility, and social awareness among students. The role of teachers and educators is crucial in guiding, directing, and serving as role models for students in every religious activity. Furthermore, a religious and conducive school environment supports the effective internalization of moral values. Continuous moral development through religious activities helps establish positive habits that become embedded in students’ behavior. The study concludes that moral development through religious activities in schools, from the perspective of Islamic education, is an effective strategy for shaping students’ character. The success of this approach is influenced by the consistency of program implementation, the active role of teachers, and the support of both the school environment and family. The integration of religious activities with the learning process is key to developing students’ morals in accordance with Islamic values. This study is expected to serve as a reference for developing more structured and sustainable moral development programs in schools.
