PERAN GURU DALAM PEMBINAAN PRILAKU KEAGAMAAN PESERTA DIDIK DI SMP IT BINA INSAN CENDIKIA (SMP IT BIC) TEMPURAN
Abstract
This study aims to describe in depth the role of teachers in fostering students’ religious behavior at SMP IT Bina Insan Cendikia (SMP IT BIC) Tempuran. The background of this research arises from the importance of strengthening religious values during early adolescence, especially in Islamic integrated schools where moral development is a fundamental focus. In this context, teachers function not only as educators but also as mentors, role models, and moral guides who actively instill religious values through learning activities and daily interactions within the school environment. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the strategies, methods, and forms of religious guidance implemented by teachers. Data analysis was carried out through reduction, presentation, and verification to identify emerging patterns, challenges faced by teachers, and supporting factors in the formation of students’ religious behavior. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that teachers play a significant role in shaping students’ religious behavior through exemplary conduct, habituation, supervision, and motivational guidance. Islamic education teachers integrate moral and religious values into learning processes, while other teachers support religious practices such as dhuha prayer, Qur’an recitation, and routine religious programs. Additionally, the school’s conducive environment and structured character-building programs serve as major supporting factors in the effectiveness of religious behavior development. This study emphasizes the holistic role of teachers in guiding students toward improved religious character.
