Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of academic supervision conducted by the head of the madrasah in improving the quality of learning at MTs Syarif Abbas, South Kalimantan, during the 2024/2025 academic year. The research is motivated by the essential role of the madrasah principal as an academic supervisor who guides and supports teachers through systematic and continuous professional coaching. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using interviews, observations, and documentation as data collection techniques. The findings reveal that academic supervision is carried out through planning, implementation, and follow-up stages. The head of the madrasah applies various supervisory techniques, such as classroom observations, individual coaching, group discussions, and internal training sessions. The follow-up actions positively influence the improvement of teachers’ lesson plans, teaching strategies, and classroom management. The study concludes that academic supervision conducted by the madrasah principal significantly contributes to enhancing learning quality, despite challenges such as limited supervisory time and varying teacher competencies. Consistent and collaborative supervision is therefore essential to achieving high-quality learning outcomes in the madrasah.
