PERAN KEPEMIMPINAN KIAI DALAM MENINGKATKAN KECERDASAN EMOSIONAL (EQ) DI PONDOK PESANTREN AL-KAUTSAR DENDANG

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the kyai’s leadership in enhancing emotional intelligence (EQ) among students at Pondok Pesantren Al-Kautsar Dendang. Emotional intelligence is a crucial factor in shaping character and social skills; therefore, effective leadership by the kyai is expected to foster self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and interpersonal skills among students. The study used a qualitative descriptive approach with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the kyai plays a central role through modeling, personal guidance, mentoring, and providing advice based on Islamic values. The kyai’s leadership improves students’ ability to manage emotions, interact positively, and resolve conflicts wisely. This study emphasizes that kyai leadership functions not only as spiritual authority but also as a facilitator for the development of students’ emotional intelligence.
