Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of portfolio-based learning on students’ motivation and learning outcomes in the Qur’an and Hadith subject at Ma’had Aly Zawiyah Jakarta, Makassar District, East Jakarta, during the 2024/2025 academic year. The portfolio learning model was selected because it allows students’ learning progress to be documented comprehensively while fostering responsibility and increasing active participation. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, and data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the portfolio model significantly improves students’ motivation, particularly in independence, reading interest, and seriousness in understanding Qur’an and Hadith material. Furthermore, the portfolio contributes to improved learning outcomes in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. This study emphasizes the importance of innovative instructional models in enhancing Qur’an and Hadith learning in Islamic boarding schools.
