Based on data obtained during the preliminary field survey, SMA Negeri 11 Muaro Jambi is one of the educational institutions led by a principal with a democratic leadership style. However, behind this democratic leadership, the school faces issues related to the level of teacher professionalism. Based on the information gathered by the author, the level of teacher professionalism at SMA Negeri 11 Muaro Jambi still needs improvement.
Departing from this situation, the author feels that the issue of the principal’s leadership style and the issue of teacher professionalism are problems worthy of further research. Therefore, the author attempts to conduct research on the principal’s leadership style and teacher professionalism in improving students’ learning outcomes at SMA Negeri 11 Muaro Jambi. This research is qualitative research, which produces descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words and observed behavior. This study uses a case study research design, meaning the research focuses on a case (phenomenon) that is then understood and analyzed in depth. The research conducted by the author is field research, in which data collection is carried out directly in the field. The nature of this research is descriptive-analytic, which describes and simultaneously analyzes how the principal’s leadership style and teacher professionalism contribute to improving students’ learning outcomes at SMA Negeri 11 Muaro Jambi.
To obtain the data needed in this research, the author used observation, documentation, and interview techniques. After collecting the necessary data, the author conducted data analysis regarding the principal’s leadership and teacher professionalism in relation to students’ learning outcomes at SMA Negeri 11 Muaro Jambi.
