Abstract

The role of Islamic Religious Education teachers is highly needed in school learning because teachers are the ones who interact face-to-face and meet directly with students during the learning process. The formulation of the problem in this study concerns how the role of Islamic Religious Education teachers contributes to improving students’ ability to read the Qur’an at Madrasah Aliyah NU Al-Baisuny Jelutung Namang, Central Bangka, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors that affect this role.

The purpose of this study is to determine the role of Islamic Religious Education teachers in enhancing students’ Qur’an reading ability, which is carried out by introducing the Qur’an to students, instilling a love for the Qur’an, creating an innovative learning environment, acting as a motivator for students, and providing learning evaluations so that learning objectives can be achieved. Another purpose is to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors within the learning process.

This research is a qualitative study conducted at Madrasah Aliyah NU Al-Baisuny Jelutung Namang, Central Bangka. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the role of Islamic Religious Education teachers in improving Qur’an reading skills among students at Madrasah Aliyah NU Al-Baisuny Jelutung Namang, Central Bangka, is influenced by both supporting and inhibiting factors in the Qur’an learning process.
