Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of life skills education based on Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in enhancing student character at SMA Integral Hidayatullah Boarding School Batam for the academic year 2025/2026. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with teachers and students, classroom observations, and documentation studies of character development programs and student evaluation records. The research informants consisted of PAI teachers, homeroom teachers, and students participating in the life skills-based PAI program.

The findings indicate that the implementation of life skills education based on PAI is carried out through the integration of religious material with practical skills, such as self-management, effective communication, leadership, teamwork, and decision-making. Learning strategies applied include interactive lectures, group discussions, case studies, hands-on practice, and habituation of religious values in daily life. This implementation has been proven to improve student character, as evidenced by increased discipline, responsibility, cooperation, honesty, and social care. Furthermore, students demonstrated better abilities in problem-solving, emotional management, and making wise decisions in accordance with religious principles.

The study concludes that the implementation of life skills education based on Islamic Religious Education is effective in shaping positive student character. Therefore, schools are encouraged to continue developing life skills programs based on religious values as part of the curriculum and character development, so that students excel not only academically but also morally and independently.
