Abstract

This study aims to describe early childhood teachers’ strategies in developing children’s emotional regulation through play-based learning at RA At-Tartil Salakopi Cicantayan. Emotional regulation is an essential skill that enables young children to manage their feelings and respond to social situations adaptively. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that teachers implement various play-based learning strategies such as role play, cooperative games, storytelling, and sensory play to help children express and manage their emotions positively. Teachers also apply emotional routines, provide personal guidance, and create a supportive classroom environment that fosters social-emotional development. These strategies not only help children recognize their emotions but also strengthen their ability to collaborate, resolve conflicts, and develop empathy. Collaboration between teachers and parents further enhances the effectiveness of emotional regulation strategies. The study concludes that play-based learning is an effective approach for developing emotional regulation skills in early childhood. The results are expected to serve as a valuable reference for teachers and early childhood institutions in improving learning practices that support children’s emotional needs.
