METODE GURU PAI DALAM MENGEMBANGKAN KECERDASAN SPIRITUAL SISWA PADA LINGKUNGA MADRASAH TSANAWIYAH MUHAMMADIYAH TOLITOLI TAHUN PELAJARAN 2025/2026

This study aims to describe the methods used by Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in developing students’ spiritual intelligence at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Muhammadiyah Tolitoli during the 2025/2026 academic year. This research employs a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct classroom observations, and documentation of school religious activities. The data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that PAI teachers applied various instructional methods, including modeling exemplary behavior, worship habituation, demonstration of religious practices, religious discussions, inspirational lectures, self-reflection, and experience-based spiritual projects. These methods effectively enhanced students’ spiritual intelligence by instilling values such as devotion, discipline, honesty, empathy, responsibility, and self-control. The religious atmosphere of the school and programs such as dhuha prayer, Qur’an recitation, and collective dhikr further strengthened the internalization of spiritual values. The study also found that the role of teachers as spiritual mentors and parental involvement significantly contributed to students’ spiritual development. The findings demonstrate that developing spiritual intelligence requires consistent and varied instructional methods that touch emotional, moral, and practical aspects of students’ lives. Therefore, the PAI teaching methods implemented in this madrasah can serve as a model for strengthening spiritual formation in other Islamic educational institutions.
