Abstract

This study aims to describe the leadership style of the madrasah principal in managing digital-based academic supervision in the post-pandemic era at Pesantren Abdullah bin Mas’ud Sei Kamah II, Sei Dadap District, Asahan Regency, North Sumatra. The study is grounded in the increasing demand for digital transformation in education following the pandemic, which requires principals to adopt adaptive and innovative leadership styles. This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing.

The findings indicate that the principal applies transformational, visionary, coaching, supportive, and participative leadership styles in managing digital academic supervision. These leadership styles encourage teachers to adapt to technological developments and enhance their digital competence. Digital supervision is implemented through the use of platforms such as Google Classroom, Google Meet, and digital assessment applications. Supervision focuses not only on administrative compliance but also on guiding teachers in designing digital lesson plans, creating innovative media, and improving overall teaching quality. This study concludes that the principal’s leadership style plays a crucial role in the success of digital-based academic supervision in the post-pandemic period. Supportive and innovative leadership has proven effective in strengthening teachers’ readiness, building a digital culture within the institution, and improving instructional quality. The study recommends increasing teachers’ digital literacy training and providing digital leadership training for principals.
