This study aims to analyze the strategies used by Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in preventing intolerance among students through a dialogical approach at SMP Modern Riyadhul Jannah Subang. Intolerance among adolescents has become a major concern in education, particularly due to the influence of digital media that exposes students to hate speech and rigid religious interpretations. The dialogical approach was chosen because it provides an empathetic, open, and two-way communication space that values diverse perspectives. Through structured dialogue, teachers can correct students’ misconceptions without causing resistance and guide them toward moderate religious understanding aligned with Islamic values of rahmatan lil ‘alamin. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings show that dialogical strategies were implemented through probing questions, reflective discussions, brainstorming, role-playing activities, case study analysis, and peaceful conflict resolution. Students demonstrated significant improvements in their attitudes, including enhanced appreciation of differences, assertive communication, collaborative skills, and emotional control during disagreements. Collaboration between PAI teachers, guidance counselors, and school leadership further strengthened the effectiveness of this approach. Overall, the dialogical approach proved effective in preventing intolerance and shaping students’ character to become more moderate, tolerant, and respectful. This model is recommended for broader application in Islamic Religious Education across secondary schools to support character development in diverse learning environments.
