Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) inspired by Islamic values in improving the overall quality of madrasahs toward achieving excellent accreditation status. The study is based on the reality that many Islamic schools struggle to establish a sustainable culture of quality despite implementing various technical improvement programs. Islamic-based TQM is chosen because it effectively integrates modern management principles with spiritual values such as trustworthiness (amanah), excellence (ihsan), honesty (sidq), consultation (shura), and responsibility. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation techniques to obtain comprehensive data related to Islamic quality culture, leadership roles, instructional improvement, and administrative service enhancement. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings reveal that the implementation of Islamic-based TQM significantly improves teacher professionalism, staff discipline, service quality, and overall management effectiveness. The headmaster plays a crucial role as a role model and driver of the quality culture, while teachers show notable improvements in lesson planning, classroom practices, and assessment. Islamic values provide strong moral motivation that sustains the commitment of all school stakeholders, enabling continuous and consistent quality enhancement. School documentation becomes more organized, quality evaluations are conducted regularly, and community participation increases. Overall, this study concludes that Islamic-inspired TQM is an effective strategy and can serve as a model for madrasahs seeking to achieve and maintain excellent accreditation.
