This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of strategies to improve teacher competence through mentoring and coaching programs at Madrasah Aliyah Hidayatul Mubtadiin. Teacher competence plays a crucial role in determining the quality of learning; thus, a continuous, well-directed, and need-based professional development model is required. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The findings reveal that mentoring significantly contributes to enhancing teachers’ pedagogical, professional, and managerial skills through direct guidance provided by senior teachers. Meanwhile, coaching supports teachers in developing reflective thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity in teaching through structured professional dialogue between coach and teacher. The collaborative interaction created within the mentoring–mentee and coaching–teacher processes helps strengthen the culture of professionalism within the institution. The success of the program is strongly influenced by the support of school leadership, availability of mentoring time, and a collaborative work environment. However, several challenges remain, including limited documentation, insufficient training for mentors, and inconsistent mentoring schedules. Overall, the mentoring and coaching programs have proven effective in improving teacher competence and instructional quality, making them relevant and applicable as professional development models in modern educational settings.
