Abstract

This study aims to describe teachers’ efforts to enhance early childhood socio-emotional development through the use of prompting statements at TK Cendrawasih, Manokwari Regency, West Papua Province. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that teachers use prompting statements to stimulate children’s ability to express emotions, interact, cooperate, and manage their feelings more positively. The implemented strategies include open-ended questioning, verbal reinforcement, and situational prompts relevant to the children’s daily experiences. The results indicate that consistent use of prompting statements effectively improves children’s socio-emotional skills, particularly in empathy, communication, and self-control. This study recommends that teachers continue integrating prompting statements into learning activities as a strategy to strengthen socio-emotional development in early childhood education.
