This study aims to describe in depth the principal’s leadership strategies based on emotional intelligence (EQ) in improving the quality of education at SDN 1 Sidomulyo. The background of this research stems from the increasing demand in the educational sector for leaders who are not only academically competent but also emotionally intelligent in creating a harmonious, productive, and conducive school environment. As the central figure in school management, the principal plays a crucial role in mobilizing teachers, staff, and students to achieve the established standards of educational quality. Therefore, emotional intelligence becomes an essential aspect that influences decision-making, communication style, and problem-solving processes within the school. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and administrative staff at SDN 1 Sidomulyo. The study focused on identifying EQ-based leadership strategies reflected in self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. To ensure data credibility, triangulation of sources and methods was implemented. The findings reveal that the principal applies emotional intelligence-based leadership strategies through the ability to understand personal emotions, establish empathetic communication with teachers, and foster a supportive work climate. The principal also demonstrates conflict-resolution skills, provides consistent motivation, and builds collaborative decision-making in both academic and administrative matters. These strategies positively impact teacher discipline, the quality of learning, and interpersonal relationships among school members. Thus, the principal’s emotional intelligence significantly contributes to improving the overall quality of education at SDN 1 Sidomulyo.
