Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of information technology as a learning resource to improve students’ learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SMA Negeri 1 Kebun Tebu, Pekon Muarajaya II, Kebun Tebu District, West Lampung Regency. The background of this research is based on the growing development of information technology, which provides significant opportunities for teachers and students to access learning materials more easily, quickly, and in diverse formats. However, its utilization in schools remains suboptimal, thus requiring further investigation into how technology is implemented in the PAI learning process and its influence on student achievement. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach. The subjects include PAI teachers, students in grades X, XI, and XII, and the school principal. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation to obtain comprehensive insights into the actual practices of information technology utilization in the school environment. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles & Huberman model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while ensuring data validity through triangulation of techniques and sources. The findings reveal that the use of information technology as a learning resource—such as the internet, instructional videos, digital platforms, and applications like Google Classroom and YouTube—significantly enhances students’ motivation and understanding of PAI material. Teachers utilize technology to support learning activities, both in presenting materials and assigning digital-based tasks. Supporting factors include the availability of school internet access, teachers’ digital literacy, and students’ enthusiasm toward technology-based learning. Overall, the use of information technology has proven to contribute positively to improving students’ learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education at SMA Negeri 1 Kebun Tebu.
