The background of this research is the confusion and diversity of understanding among teachers in Indonesia, particularly Akidah Akhlak (Islamic Creed and Morality) teachers, regarding the implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka (Independent Curriculum), which is considered rushed. This diversity in understanding impacts teachers' attitudes and, significantly, leads to differences in the application of teaching methods and models in the classroom. One of the instructional models recommended within the Kurikulum Merdeka is Active Learning.
This study aims to analyze and prove the influence of implementing Active Learning in Akidah Akhlak lessons based on the Kurikulum Merdeka on students' religiosity at MA Hidayatul Mubtadiin Jati Agung.
The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive analytical method. Primary data sources were gathered through interviews with the Principal, Vice Principal for Curriculum, Vice Principal for Facilities, Vice Principal for Student Affairs, Akidah Akhlak teachers, and students, as well as through observation. Secondary data were supported by a review of documents, scripts, and relevant archives. The analysis reveals that the implementation of Active Learning in Akidah Akhlak lessons is realized through religious activities conducted both inside and outside the classroom.
The results of this study conclude that the practice of Active Learning successfully shapes students' religious character. This success is evidenced by the increased student engagement in religious activities and a significant decrease in the number of student violations or misconduct at the school.
