In the world of education, madrasah/school principals have an important role in the success of educational goals. Meanwhile, the teacher is the main actor in learning activities who interact directly with students in educating and teaching activities. The birth of Law no. 14 of 2005 concerning Teachers and Lecturers and Government Regulation no. 19 of 2005 concerning National Education Standards, is basically a government policy which includes the government's efforts to organize and improve the quality of teachers in Indonesia, one of which is through increasing teacher professionalism. The increase in teacher professionalism is influenced by the ability of the principal/madrasah as a leader in managing educational institutions. Based on data obtained during the pre-survey in the field, MA Al-Akbar Sidomulyo, Air Kumbang District, Banyuasin Regency is one of the educational institutions led by a madrasa head with a democratic leadership style, but behind the democratic leadership this madrasa has problems regarding the level of professionalism. teacher. Because based on the information that the author has collected, the level of professionalism of teachers at MA Al-Akbar Sidomulyo, Air Kumbang District, Banyuasin Regency still needs to be improved. After the writer got the data needed in this study, the writer analyzed the data about the leadership style and professionalism of the teacher and finally concluded that the leadership style of the head of the Madrasah MA Al-Akbar Sidomulyo is a democratic leadership style but for certain situations sometimes also applies a laizes leadership style. fire. However, the democratic leadership style applied by the head of the madrasa has not been able to improve the professionalism of teachers at MA Al-Akbar Sidomulyo, Air Kumbang District, Banyuasin Regency.
