KOMPETENSI KEPALA SEKOLAH DAN MOTIVASI GURU DALAM MENINGKATKAN PRESTASI BELAJAR SISWA PADA SMPIT DAARUL 'IlMI BANDAR LAMPUNG
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the principal’s competence and teachers’ motivation in improving students’ learning achievement at SMPIT Daarul ‘Ilmi Bandar Lampung. The competence of a principal plays a vital role in shaping the direction and quality of education within the institution. A competent principal is capable of creating a conducive work environment, fostering harmonious relationships among school members, and motivating teachers to continuously develop their professional abilities. Meanwhile, teacher motivation serves as a crucial internal factor that strongly influences their performance and teaching dedication. When teachers are highly motivated, the learning process becomes more effective and engaging, positively affecting students’ learning outcomes. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The participants included the principal, teachers, and students of SMPIT Daarul ‘Ilmi Bandar Lampung. The results revealed that the principal’s competence in managerial, supervisory, and leadership aspects significantly contributed to increasing teacher motivation. The principal acted as a role model, mentor, and motivator in fostering a positive learning environment. High teacher motivation enhanced teaching creativity, the application of diverse learning methods, and effective interaction with students. Consequently, students’ academic achievements and learning attitudes showed notable improvement. In conclusion, the synergy between the principal’s competence and teacher motivation serves as a strategic factor in improving the overall quality of education at SMPIT Daarul ‘Ilmi Bandar Lampung.
