Kompetensi kepala sekolah dan motivasi guru dalam meningkatkan prestasi siswa di SMP IT Babul Jannah Kota Dumai
Abstract
This study aims to examine the influence of principal competence and teacher motivation in improving student achievement at SMP IT Babul Jannah Kota Dumai. The competence of the school principal as an educational leader plays a vital role in creating a conducive learning environment, motivating teachers, and directing the school’s vision and mission toward optimal achievement. This research employed a descriptive quantitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires distributed to teachers and students. The findings reveal that the principal’s competencies in managerial, supervisory, and social aspects have a positive effect on teacher motivation. Moreover, high teacher motivation significantly contributes to the improvement of student learning achievement. The relationship between these two variables indicates a strong synergy in fostering an effective and results-oriented learning process. Therefore, it can be concluded that the competence of the principal and teacher motivation are complementary factors in enhancing educational quality and student achievement at SMP IT Babul Jannah Kota Dumai
