Penerapan Metode Bercerita Melalui Media Wayang Fabel Untuk Mengembangkan Bahasa Anak Di PAUD Darul Arofah Peresak Barat kec. Lingsar Kab.Lombok Barat

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the storytelling method using fable puppet media to develop children's language skills at PAUD Darul Arofah Peresak Barat kec. Lingsar Kab.Lombok Barat. The background of this research is the low level of early childhood language ability, particularly in storytelling, listening comprehension, and vocabulary enrichment. This condition is caused by the teacher’s use of conventional teaching methods and the lack of engaging learning media. Therefore, it is necessary to apply an innovative and enjoyable method that stimulates children’s language skills, one of which is the storytelling method using fable puppets. This study employed a classroom action research (CAR)  approach conducted in two cycles, each consisting of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 15 children from group B at Alhidayah Kindergarten Girikarto. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and performance assessment of children’s storytelling activities. The data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively by comparing the results before and after the action. The results revealed that the application of the storytelling method through fable puppet media significantly improved children’s language abilities. Before the implementation, only 40% of children could tell stories using simple sentences and identify characters in a story. After two cycles of the action, the number of children who achieved the “very well developed” criteria increased to 86.6%. The children became more active in communication, confident in expressing ideas, and able to use new vocabulary appropriately. In conclusion, the storytelling method using fable puppet media is an effective strategy for enhancing early childhood language development. Fable puppet media creates an enjoyable, interactive, and contextual learning atmosphere while strengthening moral values through animal characters depicted in the stories.
