Abstract

School as an institution where education is held is a system that has devices and elements that are interrelated to one another. Internally the school has a principal, teachers, students, curriculum, facilities and infrastructure. Meanwhile, externally the school relates to other agencies both vertically and horizontally which are equally aimed at achieving educational goals. Schools are educational organizations that deal directly with interested parties (stakeholders) so that schools know more about the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats they face. Therefore the existence of a leader in the formulation of policies and decision-making within the organization is needed to bring the goals that have been set. Academic supervision conducted by the head of MTs Al Utsmani Gejlig Kecamatan Kajen Kabupaten Pekalongan is an effort to improve the quality of learning through coaching and guidance to teachers in planning learning, implementing the learning process, and evaluating student learning outcomes in order to achieve the goals that have been set. This study was conducted with the objectives of; 1) Describing the planning of academic supervision conducted by the head of MTs Al Utsmani Gejlig Kecamatan Kajen Kabupaten Pekalongan, 2) Describing the implementation of academic supervision by the head of MTs Al Utsmani Gejlig Kecamatan Kajen Kabupaten Pekalongan, and 3) describing the implications of academic supervision by the head of MTs Al Utsmani Gejlig Kecamatan Kajen Kabupaten Pekalongan in improving the quality of learning at MTs Al Utsmani Gejlig Kecamatan Kajen Kabupaten Pekalongan. This study uses a qualitative approach that is descriptive, namely the researcher only describes, analyzes phenomena, events and activities carried out related to academic supervision conducted by the head of MTs Al Utsmani Gejlig Kecamatan Kajen Kabupaten Pekalongan with data collection techniques through: (1) Observation (2) In-depth Interviews, and (3) Documentation Study. As for the selection of research informants, using purposive techniques combined with Snowball Sampling. The data collected through the three techniques were then checked for validity by triangulation. Then analyzed by: (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation and (3) drawing conclusions
